IMPORT  OF SECOND HAND MACHINERY for which CE certificate is required by Customs authorities at the port of discharge

1. Details of machinery inspected

•   Manufacturers
• Model number
• Serial number
• Year of manufacture
• Country of origin
• Original cost in the year of manufacture
• Reconditioned/refurbishing costs
• Used value
• Current cost/insurance/freight value of new equipment of similar specifications
• Photograph of the machinery
• Technical pamphlet

2. Nature of  Inspection

• Whether the machinery inspected in working condition
• Technical details of tests carried out ( a copy of the test may be enclosed )
• Standards followed for the inspection

3.  Comments/Assessment of the Chartered  Engineer

• Information on major reconditions/repairs if any ( mention cost , name of firm which carried out reconditioning/repairs and date )
• Present condition of the machinery and its expected residual life
• What generation of technology is involved in the machinery inspected ?
• Estimated CIF value of equivalent new machinery in the international market
• Comments  on reasonableness of price
